We have a great double bill planned, in a co-production with Mile Zero Dance!
This show will lead off with a unique exploration of Autonomous Sensory Meridian and ESP response using violin, video, electronics and whispers. As Soft Ions, Jenna Anne Turner and Parker Thiessen take the audience through cinematic soundscapes, providing the imaginary soundtrack to a dark thriller or sci-fi film, eerie communications evoking alien shadows. This experimental performance will involve transmission of ASMR/ ESP, i.e. psychic tingles, creating a video and sound work that will send shimmering visions and quivering vibrations to those who are susceptible!
fullSD (sound artist Patrick St. Denis and dancer Sarah Bronsard) seek to develop links between live performance, interactive scenography and digital musical instrument design. They work on the creation and the performative gesture in teams, by iteration, somewhere between concert, dance, robotic art and performance. Their performance for New Music Edmonton, Ébe (old French for “receding tide”), will combine flamenco-inspired dance and a wandering choir of five robotic accordions. As the dancer explores the crackling and friction produced by the accordions while nourished by the traces that the tradition that flamenco has left deep within her body. The elements combine to a mind-blowing exploration that asks the question, What is revealed when the tide goes out?
