We have three main series shows this season: Edmonton ensemble UltraViolet in November; a double bill with Edmonton’s Soft Ions and Montréal’s fullSD in May; and a triple bill featuring locals Holy Drone Travellers, US saxophonist Noa Even, and German trio XelmYa+ in June.
The 2020 edition of our Now Hear This festival has a fantastic lineup, including an eclectic, mesmerizing viola and electronics performance by Melody McKiver (Sioux Lookout), a vocal circus from new voice octet Phth (Montréal), a thundering improvisation from Halifax trio Chimera and a solo recital by local favourite Roger Admiral. We’ll also be presenting our fourth annual free performance at City Hall, with a newly commissioned piece.
We have four events in our new emerging artists series, New Music, New Voices, in partnership with The Aviary, and with special sponsorship from The Edmonton Community Foundation. Each will offer a unique combination of performances and artistic practices. As we near the start of the season will be posting more details about these shows, as well as posting an open call for interested artists.
Special note!! Our season opener will be the first New Music, New Voices show on Thursday, September 19. In addition to some amazing performances, we will be marking the opening of our 2019-20 season with a whole bunch of fun, including snacks, prizes and more! Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
