Saxophonist Noa Even’s program, Atomic, is a set of works for saxophone, visuals and electronics which explores ideas of atomic connection in this otherwise disconnected world. Noa Even’s project has been a long time in the making, with the works being commissioned and written for her over a period of years. Spectacular visuals and electronics will come together with wildly virtuosic saxophone playing for this deeply personal program of collaborations.
Compositions and visuals by: Yoav Chorev, LJ White and Jason Charney, Emily Koh and Michiko Saiki, Christopher Biggs and José Martinez
German trio XelmYa+, will be on hand with, au coeur du silence, a set new of works for violin, oboe, recorder and electronics. XelmYa+ is dedicated to promoting music by womxn. Their repertoire includes a range of works by womxn from all over the world, many of them commissioned by the group. In their performances, traditional notation, graphic scores and improvisation come together in solos, duos and trios of strings, woodwinds, voices and found objects.
Compositions by: Sylvia Hinz, Anna Arkushyna, Catenation, Makiko Nishikaze, Michele Abondano, Joanna Wozny and Jeanne Strieder
Finally, we are delighted to welcome back Edmonton favourites Holy Drone Travellers. With a new LP release in hand and an acclaimed performance at Sled Island, the trio of Ethan Bokma, Bhuyash Neupane and Matt Meeker are on a roll. If you haven’t heard them yet, it’s safe to say you’ll be blown away by the trio’s utterly compelling combination of long, droning soundscapes, electronics, psychedelic bass grooves, meditative tablas, and free-jazz improvisations.
